There are more than 500 million women and girls with disabilities worldwide. Gender-based violence targets more frequently women and girls with disabilities,  who  experience  multiple  forms  of  discrimination  and  remain  largely  invisible  in  the global  development  agenda  and  in  humanitarian responses.

The recommendations of good practices, contained in the Handicap International Making It Work Report, highlight the importance to endorse policies at global level, such as in the Beijing +20 process and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to prevent, eliminate and respond to violence against all women and girls.
