On 7 December in Brussels, Handicap International is organizing on behalf of the International Disability and Development Consortium (IDDC) an event on the Charter on Inclusion of Persons with Disability in Humanitarian Action.

The event, “The Charter on Inclusion of Persons with Disability in Humanitarian Action. Roundtable to progress on the World Humanitarian Summit commitments”, is co-sponsored by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, the European Union Directorate General for Humanitarian Aid (ECHO), the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland and the European Disability Forum (EDF). It will take place at the Representation of Lazio Region (Rond-Point Schuman 14) from 12.00 to 13.30.

Representatives of the European Commission, Member States, the European Parliament, NGOs and networks are invited to attend the roundtable to know more about the Charter on Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Humanitarian Action and discuss its next steps.

The Charter, launched at the World Humanitarian Summit in May 2016, expresses the signatories’ common political will and intended course of action to make humanitarian action inclusive of persons with disabilities.

The roundtable is held in the context of the European Disability Development Week (#EDDW16) organised by IDDC to celebrate the 10th year anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

Due to limited space, thank you for registering by 2 December to Elena Bertozzi, Advocacy Officer, Handicap International (Email: ebertozzi@handicap-international.org).
