On 12 April the MIW Initiative on Gender and disability and CBM International are co-hosting the event  project “Silent Tears”  at the 15th session of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities’ Committee.

Silent Tears, a multi-media exhibition

Silent Tears is a multi-media exhibition of Belinda Mason, which shares the untold stories of women with disabilities who have been victims of violence and those who acquired their disability caused by violence.

This panel discussion is particularly timely as the CRPD Committee is adopting on the very same day the General Comment no. 3 on CRPD’s Article 6, women and girls with disabilities, to which the MIW Initiative contributed during its draft stage.

Moreover, this event celebrates the 10th anniversary of the CRPD, which was adopted in 2006, setting a milestone for the promotion, protection and realization of the rights of all men and women with disabilities.

The event will count on the participation of Belinda Mason, and Luisa Fenu, MIW Project Manager, along with representatives from CBM.

To register and know more about the event, click here to download the flyer.

Stay tuned and follow @luisa_fenu with #makeitforallwomen and #crpd15.

The debate on women with disabilities and violence is already on.
