Not surprisingly, ending inequalities was at the forefront of most stakeholder’s agendas of this whole first week of reviews of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the High Level Political Forum, in New York.
This week, 18-19 June, the thirteenth edition of the European Development Days (EDD) ‘Addressing inequalities: building a world which leaves no one behind’ took place in Brussels.
More than 20 participants, including many UN missions in Geneva, attended a briefing to discuss the follow up of the Santiago Regional Meeting on protecting civilians from the use of explosive weapons in populated areas and the Santiago Communiqué.

With the third Brussels Conference to Support the future of Syria and the region taking place last week (12-15 March), HI took the opportunity to gather partners and other conference participants in side event titled “Including persons with disabilities in the Syrian humanitarian response”.
On 5 February, the “Group of Friends” of Member States supporting the Charter on Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Humanitarian Action organized a session on making humanitarian action inclusive of people with disabilities at the 2019 Humanitarian Networks and Partnership Week (HNPW) in Geneva.
State representatives of 23 States from Latin America and the Caribbean met 5-6 December in in Santiago, Chile, for a two-day regional meeting aimed at better protecting civilians from the use of explosive weapons in populated areas.
